FoodRX Assistant Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Hawaii Nutrition Services LLC, doing business as Food RX Blueprint ("we," "us"), collects, uses and protects information in the FoodRX Assistant mobile app.

1. Summary

• To answer your questions and analyze your meal photos, FoodRX Assistant sends your messages and photos to trusted AI services: OpenAI for chat and Google Gemini for Meal Scan.
• We don't keep your chats or meal photos on our servers. Your chat history stays on your phone.
• Your information is used only to give you a response. It is not used to train AI models or for advertising, and we never sell it.
• We keep only what your account needs: your sign-in, your plan, and your choice about AI sharing. You can delete your account in the app at any time.

2. Information We Collect

Your account. When you create an account, Firebase Authentication (a Google service) stores your email address and password. We can't see your password. We also store your plan (Basics or Premium) and whether and when you agreed to share information with our AI services.

Signing in with Google or Apple. If you choose Continue with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple shares your name and email address (or a private relay address). We use this information only to create your account and sign you in. We do not use it for advertising, we never sell it, and we share it only with the service providers in section 4 that run the app. You can remove FoodRX Assistant's access in your Google or Apple account settings at any time, or delete your account in the app.

Your subscription. RevenueCat tells the app whether your subscription is active, using an account number, not your name. Apple or Google handles payment; we never receive your card or payment details.

Your chat messages. When you send a message, it travels through our server to OpenAI, which writes the reply. Our server does not save or log the text of your messages. Your conversation is kept only on your phone. When you use Save as PDF, the chat text is sent to our server to build the PDF and is not stored there.

Your meal photos. When you use Meal Scan, your photo travels through our server to Google Gemini, which identifies the foods. The photo is not saved on our servers. Nutrients are then looked up in food databases using food names only (for example, "steamed rice"); no photo or personal information is sent.

Rescan feedback. When you tap Rescan, we save the names of the foods on the card and the time, to help us improve Meal Scan. This is not linked to your account.

Technical logs. Our servers keep short technical logs, such as errors and whether a subscription check passed, linked to an account number. They never include your messages or photos, and they are deleted automatically after about 30 days.

3. AI Services We Use

Before your first chat or Meal Scan, the app asks for your permission to share this information. Nothing is shared unless you send a message or scan a meal.

4. Other Service Providers

• Google Firebase and Google Cloud – sign-in, our account database, and the servers that connect the app to the AI services.
• RevenueCat – subscription status.
• Apple App Store and Google Play – billing.

These providers handle information only to run their part of the app. Please see each provider's privacy policy for more.

5. How We Use Information

We use your information only to sign you in, run your subscription, answer your questions, analyze the meal photos you choose to scan, and keep the app working. We do not sell or rent personal information, use it for advertising, or share it for marketing.

6. Apple Health and Health Connect

FoodRX Assistant can save meal information to Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android), but only when you choose to. Nothing is saved automatically.

What we save. When you tap "Save to Apple Health" or "Save to Health Connect" after a Meal Scan, the app writes an entry for each food on the card: the food's name, a meal label, the time, and these estimated nutrients: calories, protein, carbohydrates, total fat, fiber and sodium.

What we don't do. FoodRX Assistant only writes meal entries. It does not read, collect or access any other information from Apple Health or Health Connect, such as your weight, activity, heart rate, medical records or past entries. The health data saved there is not sent to our servers, and we do not keep a copy of it. We never sell health data or share it with third parties, and we never use it for advertising, marketing or any purpose other than saving the meal you asked to save.

Estimates. Nutrient values come from your meal photo, matched to nutrition databases. They are estimates, and you can review and adjust the amounts before saving.

Your control. The app asks for your permission before saving to Apple Health or Health Connect. You can turn this permission off at any time: on iPhone, in Settings → Apps → Health → Data Access & Devices → FoodRX Assistant; on Android, in Health Connect settings. You can view or delete saved entries there. Turning off permission does not affect other features of the app.

7. How Long We Keep Information

• Account, plan and AI-permission record: until you delete your account.
• Chat messages: not kept on our servers. They stay on your phone.
• Meal photos: not kept on our servers. Google may keep them for up to 55 days for abuse detection (section 3).
• Rescan feedback: kept without any link to you.
• Technical logs: about 30 days.

8. Your Choices and Rights

• Delete your account. In the app, go to Account → Delete Account. This deletes your sign-in and the account information we store (email, plan and AI-permission record). Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your Apple or Google account settings.
• Stop AI sharing. Nothing is sent to our AI services unless you send a chat message or scan a meal. To remove your permission record, delete your account.
• Health permissions. Turn them off in Apple Health or Health Connect (section 6).
• Questions or requests. Email us (section 12) to ask what we hold about you or to ask us to delete it.

9. Children

FoodRX Assistant is for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

Information travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections. Access to our account database is limited by security rules so each person can read only their own account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will also let you know in the app.
